Hello and welcome to Mrs. Moen's classroom! It is a pleasure to be your 7th grade math teacher. I am looking forward to watching you grow as a learner and adolescent this year. This is my 21st year as a mathematics educator and my 17th year in the Menomonee Falls School District.
Students in 7th grade math - Hours 1, 3, 4, 5, 7...
This year you will learn a variety of concepts and skills based on the five domains of the Common Core State Standards of Mathematics: Number Systems, Ratios and Proportions, Expressions and Equations, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students will develop strategies and understanding of these domains by solving problems individually, in groups, and as a whole class.
The math curriculum that we will use this year is Eureka math. This curriculum is aligned to the Menomonee Falls Mathematics Standards. Technology will be integrated into daily instruction and homework - asking students to reference math web sites will be common practice. It is important that computer access is available at home throughout the school year. If you do not have technology at home please speak with me and we can problem solve together.
I will update my Schoology pages every weekend so that students and parents are aware of "what's happening" in our classroom. Please reference your Schoology class/course page for important information for your specific class. There is important messages, homework, weekly plans, web site links, and due dates on Schoology. This is a great communication tool that I encourage all students and parents to utilize throughout the year. Communication between school and home is the key to success for all students. Please don't hesitate to contact me about any questions or concerns you have throughout the year.
I am looking forward to a fun, exciting, and successful 2016-2017 school year!
